First off we're going to look at a quick introduction to Māori art.

There are four main forms of traditional Māori Art in New Zealand. These are:
- Whakairo (Carving)
- Tukutuku (Weaving)
- Kōwhaiwhai (Painting)
- Tā Moko (Tattooing)

Due to the personal nature of Tā Moko, we will not be focusing on this area in our class.

We will look closer at Whakairo, Tukutuku and Kōwhaiwhai to draw inspiration for our Art Panels that we will be making throughout this course.
