The Design: Drawing inspiration from the distinctive silhouette of a traditional Pūrerehua, featuring a central koru cutout that mirrors the instrument's resonating eye.
-
The Instrument & History: Traditionally crafted from wood, bone, or stone, the Pūrerehua (Māori bullroarer) is an ancient taonga Pūoro (musical instrument) that is swung on a cord to produce a whirring, buzzing sound historically used to mimic the wind or send distant messages across the landscape.
